Violations
A violation is your community recording that something at your property does not comply with its rules. You see your own; you never see anyone else's.
What a notice contains
- The category and a description of what was observed.
- The property address, and unit where relevant.
- A cure by date, where one was set. That is your deadline to fix it.
- Photos, where the inspector attached any.
- A timeline of everything that has happened on the notice.
Stages
Violations escalate through three stages:
| Stage | What it means |
|---|---|
| Warning | First notice. Fix it by the cure date and it ends here. |
| Fine | A monetary penalty has been or can be attached. |
| Hearing | It goes before the board. |
Escalation is a deliberate act by an admin, not a timer. Nothing escalates because a date passed on its own.
Status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Open | Live and expecting action from you |
| Cured | You fixed it and the community agreed |
| Closed | Finished, whether cured, dismissed or resolved at a hearing |
Fines
A fine attached to a violation becomes a real charge on your Payments page under the Fines category, alongside your dues. It has its own due date and you pay it the same way you pay anything else.
The timeline
Every event is recorded and kept: creation, each escalation, each fine, each status change, and any notes an admin added. This is the record that matters if the notice is ever disputed, so read it rather than relying on remembered conversations.
If you disagree
Use Messages to contact the admins directly, or Feedback if it is about the rule rather than this notice. Fix first and argue after where you can: a cured violation is a much better position than an open one.
