Families

A family is several member accounts treated as one household: two spouses who own a home together, a parent and an adult child, a landlord and their tenant.

Build one when reassembling a household's records from four accounts is a job you keep doing by hand.

Building one

Name the family and add members by email. Only verified accounts can be added, because an unverified address is not yet proof of anything and family grouping is exactly the place that matters.

Each member gets a relationship: adult, child, tenant or other. The relationship is descriptive, not a permission.

Two switches, and only one is yours

Family-wide sharingYouOff
Per-member opt-outThat memberNot opted out

A member sees another member's records only when you have enabled sharing and they have not opted out. You cannot set or clear a member's opt-out, and cycling the family-wide switch does not reset opt-outs, so turning sharing off and on again does not quietly re-expose someone who asked to be left out.

Off means grouping exists for your view only, which is the common case.

What the family view shows

Issues, payments, assignments, bookings, violations, resale orders, conversations and household entries, each tagged with the member it came from.

Large record sets are truncated to a newest-first sample rather than loaded whole, and the view says when that has happened so you do not read a partial list as a complete one.

If you do not see it

Families is off by default and has to be switched on per community.
