Manage Violations
Covenant enforcement. Requires the Violations entitlement; never offered to municipalities. It does not require Stripe, but attaching a fine does.
Logging one
Against a resident and a property:
- Resident email, and name.
- Property address, and unit. The violation is about a property, and in an HOA that is a house rather than a person.
- Category and description. Write what was observed, not a conclusion.
- Cure by date, the deadline for fixing it.
- Photos, which is the evidence that makes the record hold up.
Stages

Escalation is a deliberate act, never a timer. Nothing escalates because a date passed, which means the record always reflects a decision somebody made.
Stage and status are separate columns: a violation at the fine stage can still be cured.
Escalating takes an optional note, and the note is worth writing: it is what explains the decision to whoever reads the file later.
Fines
Attaching a fine creates a real fee on the resident's payments, categorised as a fine and linked back to this violation, with its own due date. They pay it the way they pay anything else, and it reports as fine income.

Close things. An enforcement log full of open violations from three years ago is worth less than a shorter accurate one, and it lands in every resale packet you issue.
The timeline
Every violation carries an event history: creation, each escalation, each fine, each status change and every note. Nothing is overwritten.
This is what matters when a notice is disputed, when a property sells, and when a board has to show it enforced its rules consistently. Add a note whenever something happens outside CivicPort, such as a phone call or a site visit.
What the resident sees
Their own violations, with the description, cure date, photos, stage, status and the full timeline. They never see anyone else's.
